If you like to garden then you probably don’t mind getting a little dirt on your hands and under your finger nails. Feeling one with nature is great, but who wants scrapes, cuts, rashes and blisters on their hands. Wearing gardening gloves is the solution to your problem, but how would you go about choosing a pair that works for you.

There are many different types of gardening gloves on the market today. You can buy your run-of-the-mill gloves from the dollar store, but usually they aren’t comfortable because they don’t really fit your hand as they should. You can also go to the gardening department of most stores and find a pair of good gardening gloves, like Nitrile gardening gloves that will fit your hands and you can order some really neat gloves online.

<div style=”display:block;float:left;margin: 5px 5px 5px 5px;”>

The type of glove you need depends on what you will be doing in your garden. If you are just moving the soil around and doing some basic planting and weed pulling, you may not need anything more than a good pair of general garden gloves. If you plan on doing major work like using rakes, hoes and other high powered machines, you may want a glove that offers a little more protection for your hands.

As I mentioned before, you can buy gloves almost anywhere. Here are a few tips to help you decide which gloves are right for your gardening needs.

Make sure the gloves can be washed and dried easily.

For general gardening, cotton and cotton-polyester are good fabric choices. They work well for light chores.

Leather or grip-enhancing gloves might be a good choice if you plan on using a rototiller or garden equipment like pruners and such.

If you are going to be using chemicals on your garden then you might need gloves that are chemical resistant. Gas, oil, pesticides, herbicides and anything acid-based needs to be handled with care and you shouldn’t allow these chemicals to get on your skin.

Wearing gardening gloves is a wise thing to do. Gloves protect your hands from the elements and they really don’t cost that much. Besides, with all the stylish gloves on the market today, you could start a gardening fashion trend!

The Luster Leaf 1817 Rapitest Mini Soil pH/Moisture Tester is designed for simplicity of use with accurate results. It is an economical way to test for moisture and pH levels in the soil.

Why Should You Test Moisture
One of the most common problems for experienced and novice gardeners alike is providing the correct amount of moisture to the soil. Damage from overwatering is often difficult to remedy after the fact. Knowing how much moisture your plants are getting help you get better results from your gardening efforts.

Why Should You Test pH
One of the key measures of the suitability of a given soil is its pH, or acidity level. The pH level determines which plants will thrive in a given soil and which may struggle. Mainly, it affects how effectively a plant can access available nutrients. For example, many plants growing in a soil with a high pH level (an alkaline soil) will have difficulty taking up available Iron and Manganese. This can cause yellowing of the leaves and general underperformance of the plant. Knowing the correct pH level for your plants will help you get better results from your gardening efforts.

How Does Rapitest pH-Mini Moisture Tester Work
Simply use the switch to select what you would like to measure, insert the meter into the soil, and take a reading.

Product Features

* No batteries required
* Complete instructions for the water needs of over 100 plants
* Complete instructions for the pH needs of over 50 plants
* Designed for simplicity and accuracy
* Economical way to test pH levels
